With so much going on, do we still follow the fundamentals of marketing or we just wing it?
There are so many ways to skin a cat, and i have learnt that can be true in marketing. However there are some fundamentals that we all subscribe to as marketers like the 4Ps which are evolving into 5,6,7 Ps depending on what you read.
Today my focus will be on the art of marketing management.
What is Marketing Management Marketing management is managing and performing managerial functions in the fields of marketing. It identifies the opportunities of the market, and it comes out with the functions to manage the marketing field. This management is held to explore the opportunities which will profit the company.
The actual execution of policies, marketing plans and procedures can be the actual execution of this marketing project. Management is a way of determining and getting things in an organised and efficient manner.
As a result of the above i have found that if you have time, or are a keen marketer, reading up and learning about project management can significantly differentiate you within an organisation. It's great to have a strategy and plan approved by the board, but many people fail when it comes to execution. Marketing management is what informs a firm’s marketing plan through the utilisation of accurate market knowledge. This is usually obtained by means of research and surveys in a systematic approach. Being thoroughly aware of a company’s current market, setting realistic goals and targets, developing new market-penetration strategies as well as implementing effective marketing plans within budget are all part of marketing management.
Some of the industry leaders i enjoy and fall back on would obviously be Philip Kotler and Porter for embedding the corporate strategy especially looking at Porter's five forces etc.
